Tooth sensitivity

Is your tooth sensitive? Are you afraid of taking your favourite foods?

Do you want to know what exactly the problem is?

Here we have explained everything in detail.

Dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) is a common clinical condition usually associated with exposed dentinal surfaces either through loss of the enamel layer or recession of the gums.

It is characterized by short,  intense transitory pain arising from the exposed dentin in response to food or cold, hot, acidic or sweet drinks, or tactile pressure etc.

Reasons:

Broken Tooth
Tooth wear & tear
Tooth Decay
Gum recession

Broken Filling
Improper brushing

Prevention:

  • Do not consume anything immediately that is too hot or too cold.
  • Do not brush teeth with wooden twigs or salt or charcoal.
  •  Periodic dental visits.

Cure:

  • Employ proper brushing technique.
  • Use of desensitizing paste.
  • Restoration of decayed or broken teeth.
  • Change of restoration if it is not intact.
